Gideon Elementary School

 
 

Edward Gideon Elementary school is a K-8 Community School within the School District of Philadelphia and located in North Philadelphia. 

Home to XX students, XX staff and faculty, and named after Edward Gideon, a career educator and former Superintendent in Philadelphia, Edward Gideon Elementary is committed to joining BRIDGE in building happier and healthier communities by nurturing and motivating their students to be inspired and prepared citizens.

Edward Gideon Elementary was a pilot site for BRIDGE during the 2016-2017 school year where students and educators were excited to the positive effects of bringing yoga, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning to the classroom,

BRIDGE loves community schools. We hope you do, too. Join us in raising $2,475 to bring BRIDGE to Edward Gideon Elementary in Spring 2018.

Edward Gideon Elementary school was designated a City of Philadelphia community school in 2016. After extensive outreach and feedback collection led by the community school coordinator and assisted by the community school committee, the following priorities were identified for the school.

Top priorities

  • Increase safety in the school and surrounding environment
  • Increase resources for families, including access to health services
  • Increase extracurricular opportunities for students

Secondary priorities include:

  • Increasing physical activity
  • Providing job opportunities and training for parents and community members.
  • Increasing social opportunities.
